Jacques Couvas (France)
Jacques Couvas, has more than 20 years experience as a senior executive with international telecommunications companies. President of Globelink International, he has held the positions of Managing Director, EMEA and India, of Telnext Communications, Executive Director, Telehouses Europe of Global Crossing, Group Vice President and Managing Director, EMEA of Glenayre Technologies, Vice President and General Manager, EMEA of Mtel International and SkyTel (a division of MCI WorldCom), and President and CEO of Service 800 and Executive Telecard.
Mr. Couvas’s academic curriculum includes an MBA and postgraduate education in marketing management and EU Law at INSEAD and Leicester University.
Mr. Couvas is also very active in national and trans-national government relations and regulatory work, has led working groups and committees at the ITU, ETSI and CEPT, and has been industry spokesman at the FCC and the European Commission. He has served since 1994 as the elected Chairman of the Board of Directors of emma, of which he is a co-founder. He is married, has four children and lives in Geneva, Switzerland.
