Last year's Annual Conference of the Association was held on December 9-10 at the Meridien Hotel in Nice, France. The General Assembly took place on December 9 at the same location. It was followed by a Gala Dinner and the announcement of the 2002 emma Marketing Awards.

During the Gala Dinner the EMMA 2002 Marketing Award was conferred to PageOne Communications of the UK for the most innovative wireless messaging solution launched in the period May 2001 to August 2002. The application is known as Oventus. It enables users to access on a worldwide scale a multi-media messaging platform and benefit from the group and two-way message transmission and other advanced capabilities.

emma has been awarding since 1994 marketing prizes for new products and services, which add value to the use of wireless messaging.
